The saying, “Necessity is the mother of invention,” has led to a partnership between Israel and Taiwan. In the heart of the coronavirus Israeli startups needing fundraising assistance have found help in a Taiwanese innovation company, Innovation to Industry (i2i) which created IP2 Launchpad to “enable Israeli firms to test out technologies and create partnerships with local manufacturers, the health care system, academic researchers, and potential investors.”

Selecting Israel as their first country for the program, the largest innovation company in Taiwan has created a $70 million program to create tech collaborations between Israeli startups and the East Asian country’s industry and academia, “in order to pave their way to sell their products in Asia.” This program came into existence due to i2i’s chairman Gary Gong’s visits to Israel where he saw Israeli innovation and industry. He says, “Integrating the Israeli innovation industry with the hardware and healthcare industry in Taiwan will fuel the industry innovation in Taiwan.” Israeli startups will have funds ranging from $200,000 up to $3 million at the end of the program. “A secondary goal of the program is to establish the Asian Business and Innovation Center in Taiwan enabling Israeli companies to accelerate their entry into East Asian markets.”

Twenty-five Israeli startups have been selected by IP2 Launch Pad, the majority being “in the field of digital health care and one quarter are in cyber security.” Rani Shifron, CEO of Healthier Globe, will run the program from Israel.

Congratulations on the new partnership with i2i, and it will be interesting to see the outcome of this relationship in the coming years. One significant outcome: It gives a clear answer to those who want to Boycott, Divest, and Sanction Israel.
