A mikvah, the ritual bath, forms one of the important structures in any Jewish community. Due to the heavy rains of late an ancient mikvah has filled so that it could be used for the first time in two-thousand years. This mikvah was discovered 35 years ago, and is currently under military control as repairs still need to be completed on it.
Located on the Derech Haavot (the way of the Patriarchs) it once served probably thousands of pilgrims on the way to Jerusalem. While the pool is full currently, it may not remain so for long, only during Israel’s rainy season. “Still, it’s amazing to see this place even without the water.”
Another evidence of the remarkable land of Israel. A place of faith and history.
