Terrorist Shot in Kiryat Arba Stabbing Attack

A Palestinian terrorist on Monday (5th) attempted to stab Israelis at the entrance to the Israeli community of Kiryat Arba in the Hebron area.

IDF forces stationed in the area shot and wounded the terrorist, stopping the attack.  No Israelis were wounded in the incident.

The terrorist was lightly wounded.  A video showed him fully conscious on the ground.  He was evacuated to an Israeli hospital for treatment.

The incident comes amid a spate of Palestinian terror attacks in  recent weeks, starting October 7 when an Arab gunman shot and killed two Israelis at the Barkan Industrial Park in Samaria.  He remains at large.

Two weeks ago a terrorist was shot and killed in a stabbing attack in Hebron.  A week before that, a terrorist was shot and killed in another stabbing attack in Samaria.

That same day, Israeli Supreme Court Justice David Mintz narrowly escaped a carjacking by three Arabs armed with hammers in Samaria.

On Thursday, October 11, an Arab terrorist wounded two Israelis in a stabbing attack, also in Samaria.  The terrorist initially eluded capture. He was later seized by Israeli forces.

At Least 40,000 Jews Gathered In Hebron To Mark Biblical Purchase Of Cave Of The Patriarchs

JERUSALEM – Tens of thousands of Jewish Israelis and visitors went to Hebron and the Tomb of the Patriarchs in a yearly pilgrimage to mark the reading of the week’s Torah portion.

This past Shabbat, Jews around the world read the portion concerning the Biblical patriarch Abraham who bought the Cave of the Patriarchs in Hebron in which to bury his dead wife Sarah.

The Jewish community of Hebron announced that some 40,000 people participated in the pilgrimage.  Large tents were set up for group meals and smaller tents dotted the landscape near the tomb, where families and groups set up camp for the festive Shabbat.

Last week, Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman announced that he had ordered his office to advance planning for the construction of Jewish housing in Hebron.

The announcement followed the Israeli Cabinet’s approval last month of the establishment of a new Jewish neighborhood in Hebron, the first Jewish housing to be built for Jewish Israelis in the city in 16 years.

The land on which the project will be constructed was owned by Jews before Israel’s establishment in 1948, but was later leased by the Civil Administration to Hebron’s Palestinian municipality to create a central bus station, which was built and later removed.

Some 500 Jewish Israelis live in Hebron in four neighborhoods, amidst more than 100,000 Palestinians.

Iranians Protest Over Fresh Sanctions

Iranians chanting “Death to America” rallied on Sunday (4th) to mark both the anniversary of the seizure of the U.S. Embassy during the 1979 Islamic Revolution and renewed U.S. sanctions on Iran’s key oil sector planned to go in effect the next day.

In the meantime, the sanctions – the second of two rounds of sanctions the U.S. has reintroduced after having lifted the crippling sanctions in 2015 under an international nuclear agreement with Iran – have now been officially reimposed.

Thousands of students in the government-organized rally in the capital Tehran, broadcast live by state television, burned American and Israeli flags, an effigy of Uncle Sam and pictures of U.S. President Donald Trump outside the leafy downtown compound that once housed the U.S. mission.

On November 4, 1979, hardline Iranian students stormed the U.S. embassy in Tehran, soon after the fall of the U.S.-backed Shah, and 52 Americans were held hostage for 444 days.  The two countries have been enemies, on opposing sides of Middle East conflicts, ever since.

Rallies replete with “Death to America” chants are staged on the embassy takeover every year.  But U.S.-Iranian rancor is especially strong this year, following Trump’s decision in May to withdraw the United States from world powers 2015 nuclear deal with Iran and reimpose sanctions on Tehran.

The restoration of U.S. sanctions on Monday (5th) targeting Iran’s oil sales and banking sectors is part of a wider effort by Trump to halt its nuclear and ballistic missile programs and to stop Iran’s supporting of proxy forces in conflicts across the Middle East.

Farrakhan in Iran: Likens Trump To Satan, Leads ‘Death To America’ Chant

Nation of Islam leader and prominent anti-Semite Louis Farrakhan chanted “Death to America” and claimed that “America has never been a democracy” on Sunday (4th) during a solidarity trip to Iran, ahead of the re-implementation of U.S. sanctions on the country this week.

According to Iran’s semi-official news agency Mehr, Farrakhan said at a meeting with the Secretary of Iran’s Expediency Council Mohsen Rezael that America is conspiring against Iran.

He also compared President Donald Trump to Satan.

“I understand how the enemies have plotted against the Iranian people and I would like to stay alongside you (Iran) to stop their plots,” he said.

He also blasted American support for Saudi Arabia, Iran’s arch-rival in the region and added, “Satan seeks to divide Muslims and wants them to kill each other, while God tells us in the Quran to be united.”

He also referred to Jews as the “synagogue of Satan.”  Farrakhan, perhaps the most notorious black supremacist in America, has a long history of anti-semitic statements.  Most recently, he referred to Jews as “termites.”

Farrakhan also stated that African-Americans are part of the Islamic revolution.

According to the Farsi language Islamic Republic of Iran News Network (IRINN), Farrakhan spoke to students at the University of Tehran law school and fulminated against Israel.

At the end of his talk, Farrakhan chanted the common Iranian slogan, “Death to America,” and was joined by members of the audience.

Israel Introduces New Farming And Water Technology To Hanoi

HANOI – The Israeli embassy has introduced  new technology in Hanoi aiming to improve the quality of the city’s agricultural sector.

The new technology, known as “vertical rice fields,” was developed by the Israel-based Vertical Field that pioneers in designing and building modular, lush green vertical gardens and fields.

The technology was introduced at the “Exposition of Futuristic Agro and Water Israeli Technologies and Cultural Performance” last week.

The event served as part of a series of activities that will be held to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Israel diplomatic relations.

The activities will promote friendship and partnership between the two nations in general and between the capital of Hanoi and Israel in particular, the embassy said in a statement.

Featured at the ceremony was a vertical rice field covering 100 square meters, which was combined with the deployment of soil-based technology for water conservation and plant nutrition.

Also exposed was cutting-edge patented Israeli technology developed by Watergen that provides a low-cost, abundant and renewable source of fresh and clean drinking water by extracting it directly from the atmosphere. The machine can produce 700 liters of water per day.

“We celebrate our great friendship with the Vietnamese people by displaying unique and cutting-edge technologies in the center of Hanoi, which represent the ties between our two nations:  it is all about innovation, advanced technology, agriculture and science,” said Israeli Ambassador Nadav Eshcar.
