Israeli Scientists Find Potential Cure for Diabetes

A team of Jerusalem-based researchers believe they have a cure for diabetes that could be brought to the public within the next few years. Israeli based Betalin Therapeutics has developed the first bio-artificial pancreas, composed of pig’s lung tissue and insulin secreting cells. The implanted artificial pancreas would measure the body’s sugar level and release the right amount of insulin needed to balance blood sugar.

This is a big step because currently today we only have ways of managing diabetes. My sister has this disease, and it’s certainly gotten easier to manage over the years, but it’s still just managing. The Israeli researchers say…  “This is a cure because the diabetic pancreas has lost the function of secreting insulin and this new cure gives the function back. The patient should never have to inject insulin into his body again.” Once again Israel blesses the world through modern medical advancements.
