As Israelis prepare for the High Holidays with the arrival of Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, feelings run high. First, they face the formation of a new government, that by all appearances is not going smoothly. Avigdor Liberman remarked that the Israelis will never forgive either Prime Minister Netanyahu or Benny Gantz if they are forced to go a third time to the polls. So, the Israelis face the new year with a feeling of uncertainty.

Yet Israelis also have a euphoric feeling of celebration. According to The Times of Israel, “Tens of thousands of Israelis flocked to the national parks and beaches to take advantage of the Rosh Hashanah holiday and of the fine weather. The holiday to mark the Jewish New Year ends Tuesday evening with the fine weather expected to continue.”

Yet, with the celebration, the declarations of Iran to destroy Israel continue to sound. The commander of Iran’s Elite Revolutionary Guard Corps, Major General Hossein Salami, “That destroying Israel is now an achievable goal. We have managed to obtain the capacity to destroy the impostor Zionist Regime…this is no longer a dream, but an achievable goal.” This new year of 5780 should prove to be an interesting one. L’Shanah Tovah! Happy New Year!
