The hostages taken on October 7 each have a heart breaking story. For each family member who lost a loved one, for those whose loved one was taken and been released, and for those remaining in captivity still awaiting their release, the pain continues.

Six more hostages have been recovered in Khan Younis, “including one who was presumed alive.” “All six are known to have been taken alive on October 7 during the Hamas led invasion and slaughter.” As talks continue, some of the hostage families believe, “The Israeli government abandoned the hostages on October 7 and is now abandoning them for good.”

Another touching reminder of the hostages is Eliya Cohen, whose partner Ziv Abud celebrated their love on Tu B’Av, a day of celebrating love, similar to our Valentine’s Day. Ziv has not seen her partner since October 7, and she celebrated the holiday with a romantic dinner for two, dressed in a red evening gown, and with a photo of her partner Eliya across the table from her. Sadly he planned to surprise her and give her the engagement ring he purchased, but was kidnapped before he could do so. Ziv escaped the terrorists at Nova, but Eliya did not. Her note at the table said it all, “It’s already Tu B’Av (the 15th of Av) and my fiancé is still captive in Gaza.”

These stories show the enduring pain hostage families endure until their loved ones are released and return home.
